Title 70 §3-132(A)(5) Oklahoma Charter Schools Act Tribal Trust-Land Sponsorship Statute
Published by Oklahoma Statutes Title 70 · Multiple amendments; provision current as of Aug 2026
A second, broader Oklahoma tribal-sponsorship pathway, separate from the native-language-immersion-only provision. Allows a federally recognized tribe to sponsor a charter school located within its former reservation or treaty-area boundaries, on property held in trust by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for the tribe's benefit. Unlike the other tribal pathway, this one has no requirement that the tribe operated a BIA high school as of November 1, 2010, and is not limited to language immersion schools. This provision has existed in Oklahoma law for years (previously numbered differently as the statute was amended); confirm which pathway, if either, fits the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes' specific circumstances. Current as of August 2026.
